QuickBooks adds AI invoice follow-ups and cash flow tools, with a "4 days faster" claim worth checking

AI AutomationAI Implementation

On October 27, at its Intuit Connect event, Intuit announced an expansion of its Intuit Intelligence platform. For small businesses, the release highlights "AI-powered cash flow and invoicing tools that proactively surface aging invoices, benchmark a business against peers" and "automatically follow up with customers to help businesses get paid 4 days faster on average."

Intuit also cites its own late-payments report, saying "nearly 3 in 5 small businesses have invoices overdue by 30 days or more."

The "4 days faster" figure comes from Intuit and has no stated baseline or method in the body of the release. A footnote in the disclaimers compares customers using AI-drafted invoice reminders with customers sending standard reminders, March 2025 to March 2026. The release doesn't explicitly tie that footnote to the claim.

Intuit says the capabilities are "rolling out to U.S.-based businesses and accounting firms starting today." It names no price or plan for the QuickBooks invoicing tools, and notes that "additional terms, conditions and fees may apply." It also doesn't say whether you approve follow-ups before they're sent.

What it means for an SMB

  • Ask who approves the message. Automated emails to customers carry your name, so confirm you can review wording and timing first.
  • Measure your own baseline. Record your current average days-to-pay, then compare after a month.
  • Check cost and plan. Confirm in your account whether these tools are included.
  • Start with one customer group. Our Earned Autonomy guide shows how to widen automation only as it proves itself.
